Preh Romania, the Romanian subsidiary of the German car component manufacturer, has announced its intention to dismiss 600 persons till the end of September 2025 at its plant in Ghimbav (Brasov County). The County Employment Agency (AJOF) received a notification regarding the dismiss process which will start gradually in April and will end in September 2025.
Car component manufacturer Preh Romania, a division of the global supplier to the automotive manufacturing industry and supplier for Porsche, Mercedes or Tesla, has reported a turnover of 1.388 billion lei (€280.7 million) for 2023. Preh's Ghimbav plant produces multifunction steering wheel switches, light block switches, climate control systems and control elements in the center console of cars for BMW, Volkswagen, Porsche, Skoda, Seat, Audi, Mercedes or Tesla.
Even though the automotive industry is going through an unfavorable period, the company did not mention publicly what its reasons are for closing the plant.
