Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.

City transport company Zagreb Electric Tram (Zagrebački električni tramvaj - ZET) is purchasing 60 used low-floor buses and is employing 200 new bus drivers.
The additional buses are to ensure the expected level of quality and sustainability of the timetable until the implementation of the public transport decarbonisation project, which will include the purchase of up to 70 buses powered by electricity and hydrogen. The estimated value of the purchase is €12.5 million.
ZET currently lacks about 200 bus drivers, so it is offering reimbursement for the costs of retraining and training to those interested. At ZET, the average gross driver's salary is around €1,520, with an additional €193.33 in non-taxable income. In addition, candidates are offered other benefits, such as long service awards, holiday pay, a Christmas bonus, an Easter gift, gifts for children, anniversary awards, and paid leave.
Thanks to the previous purchase of 60 used buses, which operate on the streets of Zagreb every day, ZET has had positive experiences with the delivered buses, which are well-preserved and of high quality and have earned numerous compliments from passengers and transport staff.
