Description

Online furniture retailer Wayfair has announced that it will cut 730 jobs worldwide.

The company has decided to withdraw from the German and Austrian markets after 15 years of operations. Wayfair, which had struggled with limited brand awareness, small market share, and challenging macroeconomic conditions in these regions, will cease accepting new orders from Germany and Austria.

Overall, 730 jobs, approximately 3% of its workforce will be cut. The company did not provide detailed figures on how many jobs will be eliminated in Germany. Half of the affected employees will be offered continuing employment if they are willing to move to other locations such as Boston or London.

Wayfair CEO Niraj Shah said the company will focus more on the UK, Ireland and Canada.

Wayfair operates in Germany, UK, Ireland, United States, India, and China.
