Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.

Black Red White, a furniture producer, is closing its factory in Przeworsk, resulting in 220 job losses.
The closure follows the worsening economic situation of the company, and refocus in production towards products other than produced at the factory. The layoffs are scheduled to begin by February 28, 2025. The downsizing process is expected to last until June, and the company does not rule out that employees from outside Przeworsk may be affected by the situation. Discussions with the trade unions are ongoing, local labour office will support laid-off employees. Black Red White, once Poland’s leading furniture manufacturer, became part of Austria’s XXX Lutz Group three years ago and reports annual revenues of approximately PLN 5 billion.
