Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Huuuge Games, a game development company, plans to lay off 89 employees in Poland, amounting to 21% of its workforce. The layoffs, part of a global restructuring that will cut 122 jobs globally and reduce the workforce by 28%, will be completed by February 2025. Consultations with employee representatives concluded with agreements and notifications were filed with labour offices to initiate the process. In 2023, Huuuge Games earned $1.12 billion globally, while its Polish operations generated PLN 307 million in revenue, employing 331 people.
