Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Dr. Oetker, a German multinational food company, will end production at its Kladno plant and gradually lay off 114 people out of the 188 staff during 2025. Employees in administrative positions will continue to ensure the distribution of the company's products in the Czech Republic.
Dismissed employees will receive severance pay beyond legal requirements and support in finding a job in the labour market.
The reason for this decision is the increasing costs and the fact that the operation can no longer be modernized as needed. This is the company's only production plant in the Czech Republic.
The company, which produces baking powder, cake mixes, frozen pizza, pudding and various other food products, is a wholly owned branch of the Oetker Group, headquartered in Bielefeld, Germany.
