Description

Yokohama TWS Czech Republic, the former state-owned tire maker Mitas, has announced plans to end industrial tire production at the Prague manufacturing plant and to lay off 300 people. Production is scheduled to end on June 30, 2025. The Prague production capacity is expected to be moved abroad, mainly to Asia.

The Prague factory currently employs 350 people.

The history of Mitas dates back to 1933, when the company manufactured tires under the name Pneu Michelin. The company's core products include tires for agricultural and construction machinery.

The parent company, Yokohama Rubber, headquartered in Japan, employs approximately 28,000 people and operates in 120 countries worldwide.
