Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The life-science company Polypeptide announced in January of 2025 that they will be employing about 100 new workers to meet the increased demand for their Peptide products, which are used in fat loss and diabetic pharmaceutical products. The company stated that the entire business of fat loss medication is in a boom period. The company is investing about 100 million euros as part of their efforts to double the production capacity at the factory located in Limhamn, just outside of the southern Swedish city of Malmö.
Polypeptide started as a company in Malmö and is now active in several countries in Europe, USA and India. The company employs about 1300 employees globally.
