Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
AkzoNobel, the Dutch manufacturer of Dulux paints, has announced a reorganisation in France involving the loss of 211 jobs in its plant of Montataire (Oise), representing around 16% of its workforce in France, as part of a restructuring plan. The plan also includes the creation of 29 new positions into the Montataire site. At the same time, the company has undertaken to invest €22 million in this site to turn it into a centre of excellence for the production of decorative paints. AkzoNobel employs 1,300 employees in France.
Management has stressed that ‘information and consultation procedures on these projects have begun with staff representatives’ and that it is committed to ‘implementing measures to reduce the number of forced departures and putting in place support measures tailored to each situation’.
Previously in ERM Events database, on september 2024, it was announced that Akzo Nobel would cut 2,000 jobs worldwide Akzo Nobel 2024-FR.
