Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Amadori has announced the closure of its Monteriggioni facility near Siena specialised in turkey, affecting 200 workers. The closure announcement was made at the Tuscany Regional headquarters on 12 June.
Regional authorities had proposed to support a site conversion plan while maintaining current employment and wage levels, but these proposals were not accepted by the company.
Trade unions Flai Cgil, Fai Cisl, and Uila Uil have opposed the decision and announced protest actions. Regional officials have expressed concerns about the closure's impact on local agricultural activities and have requested direct discussions with Amadori Group's leadership.
