Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Nova SpA, a licensed operator of Euronics retail stores, has announced a workforce reduction affecting 243 positions across the Lazio and Lombardia regions in Italy. The majority of these redundancies, approximately 200, will occur in the Lazio area. The company, which operates independently from other Euronics licensees, initiated this process on 8 July as part of a business continuity strategy.
The situation has sparked disagreement between different labour organisations. While Nova SpA has engaged in discussions with CISAL Terziario union, the major confederated unions Fisascat Cisl and Filcams Cgil claim to have been excluded from negotiations, citing concerns about worker protections.
