Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
German main railways operator announced to create around 100 full-time jobs at its on-board restaurants DB Bistro. At the end of 2024, around 3,200 employees worked in the company's 410 on-board restaurants and bistros. More employees are needed to provide better service during peak travel times and on highly frequented routes. In addition to these new jobs, the company also announced at the end of December 2024 that it will continue to train apprentices in 2025 and it is looking for around 5,700 apprentices starting the traditional apprentice year in autumn 2025.
These news follow Deutsche Bahn's announcement on major job cuts at the end of July 2024, mainly affecting its administration departments Deutsche Bahn-2024-DE.
