Danish meat processing company Danish Crown has announced plans to cut 500 jobs in Europe.
So far, the company has revealed that 278 administrative jobs will be cut at its locations in Denmark Danish Crown-2024b-DK. It has not been specified which other countries will be affected by the restructuring.
The layoffs are part of a comprehensive restructuring effort to address financial challenges. The programme follows earlier layoffs of 1,200 employees due to the closure of the Ringsted slaughterhouse in April 2024 (Danish Crown 2024 - DK) and 800 layoffs from the Sæby plant closure in 2023 (Danish Crown 2023 - DK). The company aims to achieve annual cost savings of DKK 500 million while adapting its organization to a shrinking supply of pigs for slaughter and lower competitiveness in pricing compared to European rivals.
