Emeis, a French multinational chain of nursing and care homes has announced it will sell 5 of its care homes and 2 of its assisted housing facilities. In total, 150 employees face dismissal. The company management has stated that the closures are needed to guarantee a stable financial future for all of its facilities. The group mainly aims to reduce its workforce in Wallonia and Brussels, in Flanders it is looking for 100 to 130 additional employees. Trade unions and employees reacted surprised at the news and disapproved of the sudden announcement. Following the news a request to strike was launched by the trade unions.
