Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Hutchinson, a rubber company in the automotive industry, will lay off 171 people from its plants in Bielsko-Biała and Żywiec.
The company explains the redundancies due to the crisis in the automotive industry and the need for adjustment to the decreasing number of orders. The layoffs were announced at the beginning of December; the redundancy process will begin in mid-2025 and will continue until the end of the year. Eighty people will be made redundant from the Bielsko-Biała plant, and 91 from the Żywiec plant. Trade unions are negotiating the terms of the redundancies. Hutchinson is a manufacturer of rubber products that are used in the automotive industry, headquartered in Paris with over 38,000 employees.
