Description

Canal+, a TV station and subsidiary of the Vivendi Group, which is majority-owned by the Bolloré Group, is cutting 250 workers. Of these, 150 job cuts are linked to the closure of the C8 channel. Approximately forty of these employees hold permanent contracts, while the rest also work across several group channels. An additional 100 job cuts are being made within the economic and social unit of the group, which employs 3,000 workers.

The inter-union, comprising the CGT, CFE-CGC, CFDT, and +Libres, has expressed surprise at these additional cuts, citing the lack of economic justification. The Canal+ company is set to be introduced on the London Stock Exchange, as part of the Vivendi Group’s plans to demerge.

As of 2024, the Canal+ Group has a global workforce of 9,000 employees.

The most recent restructuring recorded in the ERM dates back to 2007, with between 171 and 364 jobs cut Canal+ 2007 - FR.
