Airbus Defence and Space, the European multinational aerospace corporation, has announced its plans to cutting 303 jobs in Spain as part of a plan to adapt its organisation to a "complex" environment. Specifically, 200 jobs will be affected at the Getafe (Madrid) plant, 83 in Seville, and 20 at Crisa, a subsidiary that produces electronic systems and it is located in Tres Cantos (Madrid). The cuts will be implemented gradually between 2025 and 2026.
Airbus is experiencing a financial hit due to higher-than-expected expenses in this division, particularly in the aerospace business. As a result, the company is planning to implement a "more effective and efficient" organisational structure for the division, especially at headquarters. Airbus has assured that all staff reducing measures will be carried out in agreement with partners and based on available legal measures. Meanwhile, representative trade unions have announced that they will not accept measures that are "traumatic or coercive."
The company previously announced in October 2024 its intention to reducing the workforce of its defence and space division by around 2,500 jobs across the different countries where it is present, particularly Spain, United Kingdom, France and Germany.
