Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
MBDA, a missile manufacturing company jointly owned by Airbus, BAE Systems, and Leonardo, is hiring 283 workers to support the expansion of its operations in Bourges. This includes facilities in Saint-Denis-sur-Loire (Loir-et-Cher), Subdray (Cher), and the Bourges Airport.
As part of its hiring campaign, MBDA plans to fill 100 positions through two dedicated job dating events. Applicants will receive responses within three days of the event. The company emphasised that it is not exclusively seeking experienced workers. MBDA is also collaborating with the INSA Bourges-Blois engineering school to strengthen local recruitment efforts. In addition to the job dating initiative, 183 roles remain open at the Bourges Airport site.
The surge in demand for missiles, driven by heightened geopolitical tensions following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, has led to increased orders from countries such as France, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, for which MBDA is a key supplier. The recent recruitment campaign is designed to address this demand and accelerate production timelines.
MBDA currently employs a total of 6,100 people across France.
Several large restructurings have been recorded in the ERM database, with MBDA hiring 120 in 2019 MBDA 2018 - FR.
