Description
As announced on January 31, 500 employees of the Ziegler Group from Plößberg will have to leave the company. The employees have already received their termination notices. The wood conglomerate, along with some of its subsidiaries, filed for insolvency in November 2024.
The company is struggling due to the weakness in the construction industry. Wood processor Rettenmeier is taking over the sawmill and other key parts of the wood processing division, including 650 employees. An additional 100 jobs were secured through the sale of the insulation board plant in Grafenwöhr-Hütten. The remaining jobs are still at risk.
Before the holding company’s insolvency, the Ziegler Group employed around 3,000 people.
