Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Siarkopol, part of Grupa Azoty, which mines sulphur, will carry out group redundancies at its Grzybów plant, laying off 25% of its 700 employees (around 200 people).
The redundancies are part of planned corrective measures aimed at adjusting employment levels to current production needs. The redundancies will affect about 1/4 of the 700 employees, i.e., about 200 people; the layoffs will last from January to April 2025. The trade unions have been informed of the planned redundancy process, and talks with the board are planned. Grupa Azoty Kopalnie i Zakłady Chemiczne Siarki ‘Siarkopol’ S.A. began operations in 1966. The company is currently one of two companies in Poland engaged in sulphur mining.
