Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Teleperformance, the French multinational specializing in call centre services, has announced plans to open 598 voluntary job departures as part of an internal restructuring effort. This move aims to address ongoing structural challenges, particularly related to competitiveness and represents a significant reduction of its French workforce.
With around 1,872 employees in France, the proposed restructuring will reduce approximately one-third of the company’s local staff. On a global scale, Teleperformance employs around 492,000 workers across 100 countries as of 2023.
Several prior large restructurings have been recorded in the ERM database, the company implemented a job-cutting plan affecting 240 workers in France in 2018 Teleperformance 2018 - FR.
