Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Zakłady Naprawcze Taboru Kolejowego "Paterek," a rail maintenance company, is closing its facility in Nakło nad Notecią, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, resulting in layoffs for all 265 employees.
No specific reasons for closure were communicated, all employees will be laid-off, and first 200 already got a notice. Affected employees have received a three-month severance package, and the local labour office plans to to support them in securing new employment.
Zakłady Naprawcze Taboru Kolejowego "Paterek," established in 1945, employs 265 people in the facility. Since 2015, it has been part of a group led by a Slovakian railcar manufacturing company.
