Description

Impériales Wheels, a French manufacturer of aluminium wheels, has been placed into liquidation after a court decision, resulting in the loss of 180 jobs at its Poinçonnet (Indre) facility. The company has faced ongoing financial difficulties for over a decade, marked by frequent ownership changes and attempts at judicial recovery.

Employees and union representatives have voiced their outrage, particularly over the lack of an extension that would have allowed further negotiations with the government. The government had previously denied additional support for the company's employee job protection plan. Despite receiving 50 million euros in public aid, Impériales Wheels struggled to secure a buyer and failed to deliver on promises, including the development of a new technology.

Local officials, including the mayor of Châteauroux and the regional president, have expressed disappointment, with some attributing the company's demise to insufficient orders from car manufacturers. Impériales Wheels was the last remaining aluminium wheel manufacturer in the country.
