Description

Air Marines, a subsidiary of the Spanish renewable energy company Iberdrola, employed 1,700 workers, 500 of whom were in Brittany, for the construction of the Saint-Brieuc wind farm, inaugurated in September 2024.

Over three years, the project created numerous jobs, particularly benefiting the Brittany region. More than a hundred companies and their employees contributed to the construction. However, the project faced criticism from local fishermen, who were restricted from fishing in the area during the construction period. The wind farm has been operational since July 2023.

The development of the wind farm also attracted companies such as Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy to set up production facilities in the region, further boosting the local economy and workforce.

In three previous reports, Iberdrola’s significant restructuring efforts were documented, with the latest in 2020 noting a loss of 1,450 jobs in Spain Iberdrola 2020 - ES.
