Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Artsana Romania announced plans to dismiss 261 persons by the end of November 2024. The company is the Romanian subsidiary of the Italian company Artsana SpA, which produced components for children under the Chicco brand. The layoffs target the Artsana plant in Botosani (Botosani County). The closure of the plant represents a significant loss for local industry and the community of Botosani. Artsana Romania was an important regional employer.
The reasons for dissolving the company are declining orders and production volumes, higher production costs, higher raw material costs that cannot be absorbed in the selling price weighed most heavily in the Italian parent company's decision to leave the country.
The company has been present in Romania since 2005.
