Electronics manufacturer Semikron Danfoss has announced around 200 job cuts at its plant in Flensburg. The step has become necessary due to the crisis in the automobile sector and due to demand in other sectors also not developing as the company had hoped.
Semikron Danfoss produces electronic devices such as semiconductors, power modules, stacks and system. In Flensburg, the company is currently employing around 1,000 employees.
The company and the local works' council have started negotiations on finding socially acceptable solutions to deal with the planned job reduction. According to newspaper reports, the reductions will be realised within the next couple of months with no definite cut-off date mentioned.
