Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
As announced on 14 October 2024, German automotive supplier Brose plans to cut 950 jobs worldwide by the end of 2025. The company's plants are underutilized, and the layoffs will primarily affect administrative positions at high-wage locations.
It is not yet known which locations exactly will be impacted. However, according to trade union IG Metall, 240 jobs are expected to be cut in Bamberg, Bavaria. Additionally, the sites Coburg and Würzburg could be impacted. The union is basing this information on the company meeting held in the summer of 2024.
Brose employs 32,000 people globally, including 10,000 in Germany.
