Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
As announced on 10 October 2024, the electric motor manufacturer AEM Dessau has filed for insolvency, leading to the loss of 150 jobs.
AEM Dessau cites a declining number of orders as the reason. It is continuing its operations for now. New co-partners are currently being sought, and initial interest has already been expressed. The wages of all 150 employees are secured through insolvency payments until the end of November 2024.
AEM works as a supplier for customers worldwide, manufacturing motors and generators for the shipping, hydroelectric and mining industries. The company employs 150 people in Dessau-Roßlau, Saxony-Anhalt.
