Description
O-I Glasfabriek, an American manufacturer of glass and coloured glass, has announced a restructuring programme in Maastricht, including the loss of about 100 jobs.
It was announced that 95 jobs will be cut in the upcoming year, with 20 other jobs potentially to be cut later. It is unknown which jobs will be lost. The production of colour glass will be moved to the factory in Leerdam.
The employees were not surprised by this. In the last years, the market for glass has declined globally. Other kinds of packages, such as cardboard, are preferred. Other manufactures in Spain, Poland and France also struggle with the same issues.
O-I Glasfabriek operates in Maastricht, the south of the Netherlands.
