Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
As announced on 26 September 2024, the synthetic fiber manufacturer Trevira plans to cut 210 jobs at its plant in Guben, Brandenburg, by mid-2025.
The company is adjusting its production facilities in Guben to adapt to the "highly competitive market environment in the chemical fiber industry." Polyester filament yarns will no longer be produced in Guben. Instead, the site will focus on polycondensation. In the coming weeks, company and employee representatives will negotiate a social plan. A total of 550 employees work at the Guben site.
Trevira is part of the parent company Indorama Ventures.
