Description

The private healthcare provider Attendo plans a reduction of in some of its nursing homes for the elderly in the Pirkanmaa and Satakunta regions in Finland. The potential need for reductions is up to 145 employees. Around 400 employees are within the scope of the collective consultation process.

The purpose of the collective consultation process is to cut costs. Attendo states that beds in nursing homes remain empty even when there is sufficient staff. The company states in its press release that it will seek to offer the affected employees work in other nearby Attendo nursing homes.

Attendo is a large Nordic health care company. In Finland, the company has 400 care units and 18,000 employees.

Update 2024-12-10

Attendo has now concluded the cooperation negotiations, which were expanded to cover nursing homes also in Pohjois-Pohjanmaa and Pohjois-Savo, comprising of a total of 1,800 employees with the plan to cut personnel corresponding to 250 fulltime equivalents. The negotiations have resulted in the dismissal of 150 people.
