Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The banking group Alpha Bank has announced a new plan for voluntary redundancies. Applications started on 30 September 2024 and will end on 11 October 2024. The goal is to renew the workforce and bring in employees with new skills.
The programme offers a one-time compensation of up to €180,000 for immediate departure with three years of additional health coverage, or long-term paid leave (three to six years) in the form of a sabbatical, during which the employee is not required to provide services to the bank. The programme is aimed at approximately 300 employees who meet specific criteria, mainly those in low-skilled positions in central services and in support roles in customer service within the branch network.
