Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The garden store company, Plantagen, is planning to terminate 150 employees as part on internal restructuring processes.
Plantagen is closing five unprofitable stores in the towns of Länna, Ludvika, Råå, Kalmar and Slagst. Discussions with the union are currently in progress.
Plantagen has struggled with profitability and is simultaneously planning to close 14 out of its 69 stores in Norway Plantasjen-2024-NO.
Plantagen is the leading garden chain in the Nordics and had 455 employees in Sweden in 2023.
Update 07/10/2024
Plantagen has announced two more store closures in Sweden: in Hisingen and Motala. The store in Motala has nine employees, while the number of employees in Hisingen has not been published.
The company has also filed for bankruptcy in Finland.
