Description
The eyeglass lens manufacturer Rodenstock is relocating its production abroad. As a result, around 230 of the 500 jobs at the Regen site will be cut.
According to the company, the reorganisation of the site is part of a transformation process necessary to maintain competitiveness. The Regen plant will be preserved as an engineering centre. Lens production will be moved to Klattau, Czech Republic. The company's works council aims to prevent the job cuts and is seeking negotiations for a social compensation plan.
The company employs 5,000 people worldwide and achieved a turnover of 506 million euros in 2023.
