Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Hexing, a Chinese manufacturer of smart meters will officially start production in October at its plant in Giarmata (Timis County). The company invested more than 15 million lei (approx. €3 million) of which 4,7 million lei (approx. €940,000) comes from state aid and announced its intention to increase the number of employees from the current 46 to more than 200 specialists in the end of October 2026.
In this regard, the company signed a partnership with the Timisoara Polytechnic University which aims to train a mass of specialists to support the development of the company.
Globally, the company is present in 100 countries, which includes markets in Asia, Africa, South America, Europe and the Middle East and has a workforce of 3,000 employees.
