Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Hessian eco fashion retailer Hess Natur-Textilien, based in Butzbach, is cutting 59 jobs due to internal restructuring.
The company cites declining sales due to the impact of the Russian war against Ukraine, the related energy crisis, and high inflation as reasons for the job cuts. Moreover, environmental and climate protection would be less important for many consumers than they were a few years ago, according to Hess Natur.
The company employs 340 people. Half of the 59 positions are to be cut through compulsory redundancies. The majority of them could move to a transition company. In 2021, the company had a turnover of 100 million euros.
