Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Amazon, a multinational technology company focused on e-commerce, has announced the creation of 2,000 jobs at its newly built logistics centre in Horn-Bad Meinberg (North Rhine-Westphalia).
The logistics centre, which opened in August 2024, plans to create around 2,000 new jobs by the end of the year. The jobs will be in a variety of departments, from shipping workers to specialists in IT, health management, human resources and technology.
This is the third expansion in a year. Two other new logistics centres were opened in Germany in July 2024 Amazon-2024-DE and August 2023 Amazon-2023-DE.
Amazon expects to have 40,000 permanent employees in Germany by the end of the year. The employees currently work in more than 20 logistics centres, 10 sorting centres and more than 60 distribution centres.
