Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Syfud, fish processing company operating under the “Port Lite” brand, has invested nearly 80 million euros in building and equipping three new factories in Liepaja Port. The plant, which currently employs 130 people. By the end of the year, the number of employees is expected to increase to 200 with 800 jobs anticipated once the factory operates at full capacity. The facility uses advanced technology to ensure high-quality, eco-friendly production and sustainable energy solutions.
The plant produces surimi products and is also expected to include a larger salmon factory soon. The company aims to produce modern fish processing products for European and Western markets, using Norwegian-caught fish with a focus on salmon.
The project is supported by funding from the Rural Support Service Fishing and Aquaculture Product Processing” program and financed from the from the Western Bank.
Syfud is a Latvian-registered company with Lithuanian capital, wholly owned by the well-known Lithuanian entrepreneur Sigits Ambrazevičs, who has over 25 years of experience in seafood processing and trade.
