Description

The Finnish paper and forestry company Stora Enso has initiated cooperation negotiations at its factory in Anjalankoski, Finland concerning all 500 employees on the site. A maximum of 64 employees may be made redundant or have their employment contracts altered.

The current case is the second restructuring event for Stora Enso this year Stora Enso 2024 - FI. At the Anjalankoski plant, 14 persons were made redundant as a result of the negotiations in spring 2024. Last year Stora Enso closed one of its paper machines at the Anjalankoski factory, making 50 persons redundant. On 1 September, 2024, the employees of Enersense IN that were responsible for the maintenance of the paper machines became employees of Stora Enso. Thus these functions can now be covered by the current negotiations, when they were still external in the spring negotiations.

The union representative at the Anjalankoski plant is not surprised by the planned reductions, but is hoping that change negotiations will be conducted in a constructive manner. In the spring, planned lay-offs were brought down from 24 to 14 persons at the Anjalankoski factory.

Stora Enso is a multinational company with company headquarters in Helsinki, Finland. Globally the company has around 23,000 employee of which approximately 5,600 in Finland.
