Description

Telia, a Swedish telecommunications company, plans to cut 3,000 jobs in 2024 as part of a broad restructuring initiative aimed at reducing costs. Approximately 245 jobs will be cut in Norway, out of a total of 2,170 employees in the country.

This reduction is part of Telia's restructuring strategy aiming to generate long-term savings of SEK 2.6 billion.

The 245 positions affected include all cuts in 2024, counting natural attrition, non-renewal of consultant contracts, and cuts in permanent positions. Telia will seek to conduct the cuts through voluntary measures, offering severance packages and career counseling to permanent employees.

Union representatives have expressed concerns about the scale of the job cuts and are engaging in discussions with Telia management to mitigate the impact on workers. Telia has stated that the changes are necessary to ensure future profitability and maintain its dividend policy, while continuing to invest in core operations.

Telia operates across multiple countries in the Nordic and Baltic regions, with approximately 20,000 employees before the announced cuts.

The current worldwide restructuring programme of Telia has been recorded in the ERM events database Telia-2024-WO.
