Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Carmaker Stellantis has announced the recruitment of 450 employees at its plant in Sochaux (Doubs) to set up a half-night shift to speed up production of its new Peugeot 3008 SUV model. The employees recruited are temporary workers hired on assignments lasting more than six months. They will start at the beginning of September. This night shift will make it possible to build 1,000 cars a day at the Sochaux site. The 3008 launch has been a success, and the unions were not expecting recruitment to take place so quickly. They hope to recruit a full team in due course. This recruitment marks the return of a night shift to the site, which has not had one since April 2023.
