Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Billund Aquaculture, a prominent Danish company known for its advanced recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), faced significant financial difficulties, leading to a major restructuring in 2024 and the loss of 125 jobs.
The company, which had been a leader in the aquaculture industry for several decades, was unable to sustain its operations due to financial strain, partly caused by increased competition, rising costs, and project delays. As a result, the company is forced to close down, leading to the dismissal of all 125 employees at Billund Aquaculture. All the employees were informed of the bankruptcy of the company on 26 July 2024, and they were immediately dismissed from their positions
