Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
UK-based fashion chain Ted Baker has announced that it will cut 591 jobs worldwide.
The company is to close all of its 31 remaining stores across the UK and Republic of Ireland. The layoffs will affect 513 jobs in the UK and 78 in Ireland. Additionally, Ted Baker’s website has been deactivated.
In March 2024, No Ordinary Designer Label, the company behind Ted Baker's UK stores, filed for bankruptcy. In April 2024, the company closed 15 stores and cut 245 jobs.
Ted Baker was founded in 1988. The company continues to have more than 30 licensing partners globally, including in North America, Asia and the Middle East, which remain unaffected.
