Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
In September 2024, Amazon is opening a new distribution centre in Premstätten, Austria, creating 130 new jobs.
Initially, 50 employees will work in a four-shift system, expanding to 130 within a year. The centre will distribute packages across Styria, with daily delivery vans starting at 10:30 am.
The facility will manage daily deliveries with 200 vans. The exterior of the building was completed earlier in 2024, and operations are set to begin mid-September, with interior work still in progress. Amazon is expecting a five-figure daily package count.

Amazon's new distribution centre in Premstätten, Styria, opened in October 2024. The new facility has created over 130 new jobs.
This is Amazon's fifth logistics facility in Austria, joining its research and development centre in Graz. The centre, covering 11,000 square metres, began construction in September 2022 and was completed in November 2023.
