Description
The ΕΛΑΪΣ-Unilever Hellas S.A., a subsidiary of Unilever in Greece, operates for 60 years in the production and distribution of 26 product categories in the sectors of Home & Personal Care and Hygiene, as well as in Food products.
The company employs approximately 490 people at its factory and offices in Athens, and at its two logistics centers in Renti, Attica, and Schimatari, Boeotia.
In March 2024, the parent company Unilever announced a restructuring plan by cutting 7,500 jobs worldwide and selling its ice cream division, aiming to save approximately €800 million.
The plan to cut 7,500 jobs globally affects up to 3,200 jobs in Europe, corresponding to a 30% reduction in jobs, mainly administrative positions, by the end of 2025.
In Greece, at least 120 employees are expected to be affected, although this number could exceed 150, primarily from the offices and not the factory.
However, the specific plan has not yet been finalized. Discussions with the Workers' Union regarding the voluntary exit program will begin in September, and according to the timeline set, the programme is expected to be decided by the end of September. The implementation is set to begin in October with the exit of the first 70 employees.
