Description
Polska Grupa Górnicza, a mining company and hard coal producer, intends to make 435 people redundant from its divisions.
The redundancies are linked to the phasing out of mining in Poland. The redundancies will affect people who have already acquired the right to retire before 1 July 2024, so this is not a collective redundancy process, as those persons will move into retirement. The redundancies in the form of retirement will include underground workers, surface workers and administrative as well as office workers; the redundant employees will receive additional severance payments. The trade unions have been informed and are involved in the process.
Polska Grupa Górnicza SA is a Polish trading company based in Katowice, Poland, established in 2015. It is the largest mining company and the largest hard coal producer in the European Union.
