Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Toshiba, a Japanese electronics manufacturer, is closing its production facility in Gniezno, affecting 106 out of 136 employees.
The restructuring will start in September 2024 as a first round of layoffs, and will be completed by the end of the year, affecting primarily production workers. Employees already received the contract termination notice and the Labour Office was informed. The Labour Office will provide support to the laid-off workers.
Toshiba Carrier Manufacturing Gniezno Sp. z o.o. has been operational since 2020, focusing on cooling systems production.
