Description

National broadcaster Radio Teilifis Eireann (RTE) is to cut 400 jobs over a five-year period as part of a new strategy as it attempts to secure a €20 million bailout from the government.

Funding for the voluntary redundancy programme is estimated to cost around €50 million. The new plan was brought to the Government Cabinet meeting on the 25th of June 2024 by the Minister with responsibility for Media, Catherine Martin. A series of meetings between staff and management are planned to discuss the details of the plan.
