Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Norwegian online marketplaces company Schibsted Marketplaces, a subsidiary of Schibsted, has announced that it will cut 250 jobs worldwide.
The layoffs will affect jobs in Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark until the end of September 2024. The conditions of the programme will be negotiated with employee representatives according to local regulations.
In 2023, Schibsted announced that it would be split into two: the news media in Stiftelsen Tinius and the remaining business, Schibsted Marketplaces, which will be focused on its four core verticals: mobility, real estate, jobs and recommerce. Under the restructuring programme, the company is to build a simpler and more cost-effective organisation.
Schibsted Marketplaces operates online marketplaces in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark.
