European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Konings a Belgian beverage producer has announced it will be dismissing 99 employees across Belgium, both in its facilities in Borgloon as well as Zonhoven. The reasoning behind the measure is a general reduction in demand as well as two large clients ceasing their contract with the company.
According to local trade union delegates the news did not come as a surprise for employees at the company, as there were already measures in place in order to cope with the lower production, such as the use of temporary unemployment to reduce costs.
